About you:
This opportunity would suit a reliable, practical and hands-on person who is comfortable working alone and can organise their workload without close supervision.
Initial training will be provided, so previous saleyard management experience is not essential. A can-do attitude, sound judgement and a willingness to get stuck in are a must.
You will need to communicate well with the local livestock agents and management, identify work that needs attention, and take ownership of keeping the site in good order.
Key Skills that we are looking for:
• Experience working with and around livestock
• Proven ability to work independently and manage your own time,
• Practical repairs and maintenance skills, particularly fencing, timber and gates,
• Good oral and written communication skills,
• A current and clean New Zealand driver licence,
Applicants for this position must have NZ residence or a valid NZ work visa.
This is a part-time role of approximately 15 to 20 hours per week. Some flexibility in how the hours are worked can be negotiated around the weekly sale and washdown requirements.
Approximately 6 times per year, there are cattle sales which will lead to longer hours.
