The role offers a wide variety of daily tasks to keep you learning and engaged, including: - Milking (twice a day) - Shifting cows & feeding out - Fencing & general maintenance - Weed control - Calving & calf rearing - Shed cleaning & setup - Spotting sick cows & alerting the manager - and other general farm duties Hours & Roster: Usually between 4:30am – 5:30pm (with meal and rest breaks) Weekly hours: 35–45 (occasional extra hours may be needed depending on the season/weather) Pay: $23.50 – $29.00/hr (depending on experience) Candidates will ideally have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to people who take pride in farm performance, leadership and professional reporting. We have a job for a dairy farm assistant who must have 1+ years’ dairy farm experience and be a resident/citizen as employer will not be accredited. This is for a 1300 cow farm in the Bainham area, 18 minutes from Collingwood, milking through an 80 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - Shifting cows and feeding - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing, - Shed cleaning and setup, - Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - And other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 40. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4am and go through 5pm with meal and rest breaks. Wage is up to $29.00 per hour subject to experience.
