Calf Rearer – Casual (Drive-In) Motuiti Farms – Foxton We are seeking a motivated and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team for the coming calving season (July to August / early September). This is a casual, drive-in position, located 5 minutes from Foxton township. About the Farm Motuiti Farms is a well-established, 10-year-old dairy farm with excellent calf-rearing infrastructure, including a 12-bay calf rearing shed located beside the milking shed. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for the full calf-rearing process, including: - Assisting with collecting calves from paddocks - Tubing calves with high-quality gold colostrum on Day 1 - Feeding colostrum for the first 4–5 days - Mixing and feeding milk powder (lifting 25 kg bags) - Feeding meal to calves (25 kg bags) - Daily cleaning and washing down of calf feeding areas and feeders - Feeding calves in paddocks and shifting calves between paddocks - Weekly disinfecting of the calf shed - Identifying, treating, recording, and reporting sick calves Key Duties Summary - Feeding and caring for calves - Maintaining shed hygiene and bedding - Monitoring calf health and welfare - Accurate record keeping - Following animal welfare standards and farm SOPs About You - Previous dairy farming experience required - Must have completed at least one calving season - Reliable, punctual, and well organised - Good stock handling skills - Able to work early mornings - Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team - High standard of animal health awareness and record keeping What We Offer - Excellent calf-rearing facilities - Supportive team environment – no dramas - Well-run, organised operation Additional Information - This is a non-smoking farm - Pre-employment drug testing and/or criminal history checks may apply - If you enjoy calf rearing and take pride in animal care, we’d love to hear from you.
