We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to join our family-owned dairy operation, located just 5 minutes from Temuka.

The ideal candidate will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the farm, ensuring consistent performance in areas such as production, animal health, pasture management, staff oversight, and operational systems. You will work closely with the owners to achieve the farm's goals while upholding our core values.
This position would be well-suited for a couple, as a calf-rearing role is also available.
Key Responsibilities
Farm Operations
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily milking, feeding, animal health, and general farm activities.
- Ensure milk quality standards are consistently met.
- Oversee pasture management, feed budgeting, and supplementary feed use.
- Operate and maintain farm equipment and infrastructure.
- High standards for Farm appearance
Animal Health & Welfare
- Monitor herd health and implement preventative animal health programs.
- Work closely with vets and other service providers to ensure best practices.
- Ensure all livestock are treated humanely and according to industry standards.
Staff Management
- Lead and manage two staff members, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Plan rosters, allocate tasks, and provide ongoing training and support.
- Foster a strong team culture with a focus on safety and wellbeing.
Compliance & Sustainability
- Maintain accurate records for herd management, milk production, and farm performance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage effluent systems responsibly and in line with regional requirements.
Reporting & Planning
- Report farm performance and challenges to the owner.
- Attend meetings with advisors
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience managing
- Strong herd management and pasture management knowledge.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a small team.
- Sound mechanical knowledge and ability to operate farm machinery.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent record-keeping and technology skills.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
