Silverdene farm is a high input autumn calving farm milking 700 cows through a 50 bale rotary. Farm staff include a contract milker, herd manager and 2 farm assistants. We are looking for a farm assistant to join the team. Your typical day will involve milking cows, setting break fences, loading up a mixer wagon with a Telehandler, feeding out, and other general farm duties. We do all the ground work for our maize crop so you will get the opportunity to use a variety of different implements. Cows are locked away with a bat latch and are always going to the feed pad before milking so there is limited following cows in. The farm has a good level of technology and infrastructure utilizing Allflex collars and a covered feed pad to target 550+ Kgms/cow. Mating is all AI so there are no bulls on the farm. Primary ITO training and Dairy Industry awards entries are encouraged. While previous dairy farming experience is preferred, we are happy to train someone new to the industry provided they have a good attitude and a desire to succeed in the industry.
