We calve down 750 cows in spring and you will be solely responsible for the calves once they enter the calf sheds. This includes 150 replacements, 50 Bull calves and the rest are bobbies. Previous experience with large scale calf rearing is preferred as this is a full on role with a few steps involved within the replacements. We are looking for a reliable milk harvester for the start of calving to the end of mating (1/8/26 - 31/12/26) to assist the contract milker during the peak season. The opportunity to go onto a casual contract after the fixed term is available to the right person. We are located 5 mins from Eltham and 10 mins from Stratford. We can offer variable hours with a minimum of 30 hours a fortnight at a minimum of $30 per hour. Higher hourly rate can be negotiated on experience. We will be milking 375 Friesian cows at peak through a 44 bail rotary with in shed feed. Key responsibilities include: - Efficiently harvesting milk - Keeping shed clean - Identifying cows with health issues - Handling stock calmly. Prior experience is preferred. We are seeking an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as a Herd Manager on a 1000-cow operation in the Ranfurly area, milking through a 50 Rotary Bale shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - Training junior staff, - Stock handling and feeding (feed management), - Fencing, weed control, - Calving, calf rearing, - Shed maintenance & preparation, - Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage monitoring, - Recording and maintaining animal health, - Other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off. Salary is between $80,000 - $88,000 per annum, subject to experience. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. This position would involve running the day to day system on the dairy farm, grass, cows, staff. 900 cows calved in spring and 200 in autumn. Milk all year round. Strengths needed for this role is a good understanding of pasture management, animal husbandry, staff management, irrigation and an ability to problem solve. A great attitude and good communication is also a must. The role would allow the opportunity for growth and development of your skills, while enhancing the skills you already have.
