There will be opportunities throughout the season to do some other farm duties. Our 250ha dairy farm is located just 7 minutes from Matamata and we are milking 920 cows through a 60 bale rotary. We run a high producing system 2-3 dairy farm. You are required to assist in the day to day milking, hosing out and some animal health. We are looking for someone who has a positive can-do working attitude and is a reliable, honest and hard-working person. A high standard of cleanliness for the shed and housing is essential. There is an ongoing requirement for relief staff to cover for regular employee time off. The farms are well maintained with good terrain and infrastructure and well located. The person needs to be someone with good stockmanship and someone who enjoys working with animals. We are seeking someone who works well in a team. We are seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team. Our farm is in North Otago, 25 minutes west of Oamaru. Our owner/operated farm emphasizes animal welfare, pasture management, and sustainable farming practices. Experience is preferred, but we value a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, honesty, and integrity above prior farming experience. Responsibilities: - Milking in a 40-aside herringbone shed equipped with an in-shed feed system - Feeding livestock and performing general stock care - Setting up break fencing - Calf rearing during the appropriate season - Effluent and shed hygiene management - Assisting with various seasonal tasks across the farm Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided, and we support off-farm education such as PrimaryITO. This is a hands-on role with a bit of everything – full-time calf rearing through spring, plus relief milking and tractor work across the season to cover days off across two farms. **Job Description** Calf Rearer/ Relief Milker Location: Puriri, New Zealand This position is covering a 12 week period starting end of July. Calving roughly 620 cows, and rearing approx 350/400. You will help with, feeding new calves, replacement calves, getting cows and calves in and milking when needed. Other duties include cleaning, feeding, using farm equipment, Identifying and attending to sick calves. Looking for someone reliable, punctual and honest. Experience preferred but not essential, and a good sense of humour is a must. $30 an hour. 5 days on 2 days off. We are seeking an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as a Herd Manager on a 1000-cow operation in the Ranfurly area, milking through a 50 Rotary Bale shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - Training junior staff, - Stock handling and feeding (feed management), - Fencing, weed control, - Calving, calf rearing, - Shed maintenance & preparation, - Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage monitoring, - Recording and maintaining animal health, - Other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off. Salary is between $80,000 - $88,000 per annum, subject to experience. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
