**Calf Rearer – Methven, Canterbury** We are seeking two motivated calf rearers to join our team for the 2026 calving season, based less than 10 minutes from Methven and 20 minutes from Ashburton. Grasslands operate dairy farms approximately 20 minutes drive from the Tokoroa township. The farms comprise of 1000 cows and we have a casual relief milking position to cover staff leave etc. The farms have large modern milking facilities with 80 bail rotary platforms and are well equipped for the number of cows milked in them. We’re looking for an experienced, capable person (or couple) to join us across our two Westport farms. This is a hands-on role with a bit of everything – full-time calf rearing through spring, plus relief milking and tractor work across the season to cover days off across two farms. The setup: – 800 cow farm (60-bale rotary) – main base + calf rearing + tractor work – 300 cow farm (38 aside herringbone) – relief milking, feeding calves, feeding out – 3-bedroom house available 10 minutes from Westport township The role: – Full responsibility of calf rearing through spring – Relief milking to cover rostered days off – Feeding out and general farm jobs – Tractor work (cultivating, etc.) – Working across both farms as needed What we’re after: – Proven experience with calf rearing (confident running it solo) – Competent milker in both rotary and herringbone sheds – Comfortable on tractors and general machinery – Good time management – able to plan your day and get through the work – Easy to work with, respectful, and good with people We run tidy, well-structured farms and expect a high standard, but we also back our team and keep things fair. With our current Unit Manager moving on to Contract milking next season, we are looking to fill a current opening one of our two farms. Currently we have two adjacent 700 cows farms that share the same farm entrance/tanker track. Each farm consists of a 2IC, Herd Manager + Relief milker. With a Farm Manager moving between the two farms + Contract milker working between the 2 properties where needed. The Farm Located on the South side of the Rangitata river, the farm is 15min to Temuka, 30 min to Timaru or Ashburton. With a local kindergarten only 5 min away and good local rural schooling available – Winchester Rural. The farm has 670 cows and boasts a 36 ASHB shed with Protrack and auto drafting, Auto teat spray, New silos and snapchill glycol chilling, Yard wash, Top and bottom gates, Ai Races, Side yards with lame crushes, In Shed feeding. Irrigation across the farm consists of Rotoraieners, K lines, Standard and Lateral Pivots with VRI where needed. Water sources are mainly bore pumped with some river access when not on restrictions. The dairy shed is centrally located on the farms with short walks (20-30min). Calf sheds are a 7 bay heifer shed with adjacent 3 bay bobby calf shed and loading ramp, located opposite the dairy shed for easy milk access. The Job: Dairy Assistant Manager This position is suited to someone with 3-4 years experience minimum and is ready to have a bit more involvement with the day to day running of the farm. We are looking for an experienced and motivated 2IC who is ready to take the next step in their career. The property milks 700 cows on 180ha under full pivot irrigation with modern and reliable infrastructure. The farm has well established systems and offers a supportive environment for someone wanting to grow in the industry. Siberia Farm is part of our 470ha family run operation in Mid Canterbury. You will work closely with the Farm Unit Manager and the Farm Assistant in the team of 3 on Siberia, and sometimes also as part of the larger farm team. Cows are equipped with Allflex collars to support heat detection, animal health monitoring and overall herd management. Milking is through a modern 60-bale rotary fitted with ACR, auto wash, teatwand, Dataflow, and in shed feeding for grain and blend feeds. We are looking for someone with solid dairy experience who is ready for more responsibility and committed to progressing their career. You will need to have a minimum of 2 years NZ dairy experience. Remuneration will be based on experience. Hours would be approx. 45/wk. We are seeking an experienced person to join our team for the 2026-2027 season. This role could be suitable for a herd manager looking to progress in the industry or an already accomplished 2IC looking to further their skills in the industry. You will need to be already residing in NZ and be a resident. The farm is well-equipped with modern infrastructure, cow shed is positioned in the middle with 2 herds. Milfos- 60 bail milking shed with ACR, automatic teat spray, protract drafting system and Alflex collars. This is a high input system with a feed pad on farm. We have pivots and fixed grid irrigation in the corners with a few sprinkles. You will need to be able to show the following: - Able to demonstrate good pasture management and feed allocation, with feed supplement calculations and feed breaks done correctly. - Be comfortable to drive a tractor and mixer wagon. - A good understanding of shed, hinging management and maintain good practice in the shed at all times. - Have a strong passion for cows, animal health management and prevention. - Able to follow and demonstrate good health and safety practice at all times. - Need to be able to communicate effectively to management and have good direction and delegation to junior staff members. We milk 690 cows through a 50 aside herringbone shed. 2 Pivots with some Kline in corners, Spring calving with own support block for Wintering cows. Grass based system.
