Tidy, well established 114 ha flat farm. 400 Friesian cows through a 40 aside double up h/bone, ACRs, Protrack, Auto teatsprayer, All Flex collars. Very supportive owners, who want to see the best of the farm and staff. 6/1 roster through calving, negotiable for rest of season. 2 fulltime staff throughout the season. Calf rearer and relief milking available for partner. General duties include but are not limited to: - Milking, dairy hygiene/cleaning - Temporary and permanent fencing - Treating lame cows - Farm maintenance, spraying, etc - Feeding calves - Identifying mastitis and treatment - Tractor work, feeding out, etc - Capable to work without supervision - Confident to run farm in absence of manager What we expect: Honest Punctual Passionate Trustworthy Must be competent in riding two and four wheel motorbikes. We are owner operators seeking a motivated individual who enjoys farming with a strong work ethic and who is capable to assist with the day to day running of the farm. Our farm is a tidy, well established 146ha flat to undulating farm which is located in Isla Bank, Western Southland. We winter 470 crossbred cows on a family runoff in Dipton and peak milk 460 cows through a 50 bale rotary cowshed. We have ACRs, Protrack, Auto draft, Auto teatsprayer, and Halter Collars. We are owner operators, who want to see the best of the farm, cows and staff. 6/2 roster all year round except for calving (1st Aug – 31st Oct) where rosters are 6/1) 2 full-time staff throughout the season. **2IC – 750 Cow Dairy Farm – Southland** We are seeking a capable and reliable 2IC to join our 750-cow dairy operation, located 10 minutes from Otautau, Southland. This is a genuine second-in-charge position within a tight three-person team (Contract milker, 2IC, Shed Manager). You will be responsible for helping lead the farm and confidently managing operations on the contract milkers days off. We run a performance-focused system and take pride in maintaining high standards across animal health, pasture management, shed hygiene, and overall farm presentation. We are looking for an honest tidy person to manage/work on our 380-fresain cow farm. There is an opportunity for your partner to do the calf rearing in spring 1 to 2 hrs per morning and casual relief milking. The cowshed is a 30ashb shed. The position for manager is fulltime and comes with a tidy 3-to-4-bedroom house; it has a large stand-alone shed/garage and attached carport to the house. Primary and secondary schools are within 5kms. This farm is a grass-based system. We are not visa accredited; you must be available for an interview on the farm. The manager's position will consist of all record keeping that is required for Minda and Fonterra, also staff timesheet records. Pasture management, the daily running of the farm and upkeep is key. You will have a staff member, a 2ic, for whom time management skills, leadership, and communication are attributes to bring with you. You will be working closely at times with another of our farms nearby, 2km up the road. Not very often, but when needed to work in with a team environment.
We require a Herd Manager for 54 bale rotary 700 cow farm on 240 hectares. You must have minimum 2 years farm experience in New Zealand. Farm location is around 45 minutes from Invercargill and 2 hours from Dunedin. Purpose of the position: Understands and takes responsibility for daily tasks such as running of the dairy, effluent management and feeding. Completes tasks with minimal supervision and can supervise and train other staff if needed. Looks for opportunities to work more effectively and efficiently to improve the business. Your role includes but not limited to: - Milking: Understands and implements efficient milking practices and keeps the farm dairy hygienic. Records health treatments and solves milk quality. - Animals: Diagnoses common ailments and treats accordingly. Competent in all aspects of calving and reproduction, e.g. observation, recording and submitted on. - Environment: Understands regulations and management of nutrients, effluent and water and their most efficient use. - People: Trains junior employees in simple skills. Developing communication and reporting skills. - Machine, Vehicles and Technology: Safely uses and maintains vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy. - Health, safety and wellbeing: Models a health, safety and wellbeing culture, records accidents and identifies farm hazards and biosecurity issues. Must be able to drive Tractor, Quad bike. Working as a team is important, but you need to think for yourself. Getting up turning up on time on your allocated roster is essential; lateness and excuses will not work on this farm. This is an 11 on 2 off during calving and rest of season 11 on and 3 off roster. Candidate must have New Zealand dairy farming experience. We will hold a phone interview or face to face interview if needed. No pets on farm. No smoking or vaping. Must have a clean criminal record. Random drug testing if you're employed. You must live on the farm due to the requirements of the job. One bedroom cottage will be provided. It is suitable for only a single person, not for family.
