We are seeking one or two dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team. Position one is a Dairy Farm Assistant. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the health and productivity of the dairy herd, maintaining farm equipment, and supporting overall farm management. Position two is Calf Rearer. This position will work alongside our two current calf rearers to support the growth and development of our calves during the calf rearing season. The ideal candidates will possess a combination of practical skills, knowledge, and interpersonal qualities to contribute to the success of our farm operation. Both candidates must be physically fit and must be comfortable lifting calves, bags of minerals or grain and other heavy items in a safe and controlled manner. These are both fixed term positions end of October 2026 (exact date negotiable) but may be extended under the right circumstances. We're looking to add another reliable and trustworthy Farm Assistant to our team, pretty much immediately. Our junior staff member has moved on to his next step, which has created a vacancy in our team. We are milking 600 cows twice-a-day (TAD) starting in mid-August, and will reduce this to once-a-day (OAD) in summer sometime. The dairy shed is spacious and modern; well-equipped with ACRs, in-shed feeding, SmartWash, and a hydraulic backing gate. The other gear on the farm is well maintained and fit-for-purpose. A private bedroom in 1 of our 2 on-farm accommodations will be made available to the successful applicant. This is to be a service tenancy made available as shared accommodation for the Farm Assistant to occupy with other Farm Assistants. Both homes are warm & dry & modern. They also have stunning views of Mount Ruapehu. Each home is supplied with basic furnishings. NO PETS ALLOWED, please do not ask. NO SMOKING OR VAPING in or near the accommodation or farm equipment & buildings. We'd prefer candidates with dairy-industry experience, but are willing to train a candidate with the right attitude and mindset. This position is ideally suited for a physically & mentally fit person who is quite comfortable working OUTSIDE, in all sorts of weather conditions. This candidate should ideally be someone who has SOME animal husbandry/stock handling experience, an excellent attitude, keen attention to detail. We are small family owned and operated dairy farm with 450 jersey cows looking for our next permanent full-time Farm Assistant. Our farm is located in the Canterbury foothills in Mount Somers which is 20 minutes from Methven and 30 minutes to Ashburton and we milk twice daily through a 40 aside herringbone cowshed with grain feeders, auto cup removers and auto teat spray. You will work as part of team to complete daily jobs of milking (twice daily), moving stock, setting up paddocks, tractor work, spraying, moving k-lines for effluent as well as general maintenance and cleaning. During this time of year we are moving stock on winter crops at the run off and doing maintenance jobs. We would prefer someone with at least one year experience. We run a 11 days on and 3 days off roster so you generally get second Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. Accommodation is available in the township which is a 2 minute drive from the farm. We are looking for a farm assistant to join our team, with at least 1 years of experience on dairy farm. Apart from the knowledge build up previously if you show you are passionate about the industry, have the right attitude and willingness to keep learning and work hard then you will be considered for the role. We contract milk 1350 cows in Bankside with Halter collar system. We milk through two sheds of 44 aside herringbone. In this moment one of the sheds has Protrack and in shed feed system. The successful applicant will be part of a six person team with support from the Contract Milkers. Your duties would eventually include all aspects of dairy farming including the following (but not limited to): Maintain fencing and water supply in a good working condition. Milking (Milking time 2.5-3 hours) - Break fencing if needed - General farm maintenance - Animal health (calf drenching, identify and treat mastitis, others) - Assist with a weed control programme for the farm. - Assisting with young stock (when required). Calf Rearer Required, Full Responsibility Role We are looking for an experienced and reliable calf rearer to take full responsibility for our calf-rearing season. This is a drive-in, drive-out role. We are located in Ohaupo, within approximately 15 minutes of both Cambridge and Te Awamutu. The role will run from 1 July through to 1 October, on an 11 days on, 3 days off roster. We are calving 285 cows, with approximately 140 calves reared through to weaning. This role involves taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the calf shed. Main duties include calf feeding, general calf shed management, monitoring calf health, keeping calves clean, dry and well-bedded, helping collect calves, navel spraying, managing calf groups, cleaning feeding equipment, maintaining calf records, and communicating clearly with the farm owners. Applicants must be confident operating a side-by-side and comfortable helping collect calves as required. The successful person will need to be reliable, observant, organised, calm around animals, and confident working independently. Previous calf-rearing experience is preferred.
