Grasslands operate dairy farms approximately 20 minutes drive from the Tokoroa township. The farms comprise of 1000 cows and we have a casual relief milking position to cover staff leave etc. The farms have large modern milking facilities with 80 bail rotary platforms and are well equipped for the number of cows milked in them. This is a hands-on role with a bit of everything – full-time calf rearing through spring, plus relief milking and tractor work across the season to cover days off across two farms. **DAIRY FARM ASSISTANT** - **Milking:** Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Follows procedure to produce high quality milk. We are seeking an experienced farm worker (farm assistant to 2IC) for our dairy farming business. 850 cow split calving farm, system 5 with feedpads. We milk through a 60 bail rotary with acrs - only one person required in shed. The farm a mix of flat to hilly contour based in Reporoa. Some of the areas you will need to have proven yourself in are: feeding out/tractor driving, motorbike experience and the ability to navigate hilly paddocks, milk harvesting, treating cow health issues, using automatic drafting, setting up paddocks, dealing with calving difficulties and down cows. **Job Description** Calf Rearer/ Relief Milker Location: Puriri, New Zealand This position is covering a 12 week period starting end of July. Calving roughly 620 cows, and rearing approx 350/400. You will help with, feeding new calves, replacement calves, getting cows and calves in and milking when needed. Other duties include cleaning, feeding, using farm equipment, Identifying and attending to sick calves. Looking for someone reliable, punctual and honest. Experience preferred but not essential, and a good sense of humour is a must. $30 an hour. 5 days on 2 days off. We have a job for a New Zealand Assistant Farm Manager (2IC) position on a farm in the Bay of Plenty area. This is for a 440 cows farm, 15 minutes from Rotorua, milking through an automatic cup remover rotary shed. You'll have a range of responsibilities including the day-to-day management support including: - Milking - Shed Management - Animal Husbandry and Production - Animal Health Monitoring, Management and Treatment - Pasture and fodder Management - Maintenance of Shed, Equipment and Machinery - Know and meet regulatory rules & requirements - Mating, Calving and Calf rearing Management - and other general farm duties Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 55 for the salary. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4am and go through 5pm with meal and rest breaks. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good, related references. Due to our long-serving 2IC of six years moving on at the end of the season, we are seeking a new person to take up the role starting 1 June 2026. **About the farm:** This well-run 250 cow dairy farm is located in Mihi, Reporoa, and produces approximately 100,000 kg MS/yr. Cows are milked twice daily year-round through an 18-aside herringbone shed. The farm operates as a System 3 with in-shed feeding throughout the year and baleage fed during the shoulder seasons. Plantain is grown to support summer milk production and achieve farm environmental targets. Datamars ear tags are used to support heat detection during mating. The effective milking platform is currently 81 hectares predominantly flat to rolling contour with a small amount of steeper terrain. The farm is part of a multi-farm business including two similar-sized dairy units and a drystock/support block. **About the role:** We are seeking a motivated person to fill the 2IC position and take an active role in the day-to-day management of the farm. You will be involved in all aspects of the dairy farm, including: - Sole charge milking - Pasture management and feed allocation - Animal health - Calf rearing - Effluent management - Weed control - General farm maintenance and management You will report directly to the farm owner who is on hand to provide support when required. There is also an existing farm assistant who supports the 2IC across both farms. Relief Milker / Fixed-Term Farm Assistant Location: Eltham, Taranaki Please note: This is a DRIVE IN role. Please do not apply if you are requiring accommodation. We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team of three on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave on our dairy farm located just outside Eltham, Taranaki. This is a drive-in, live-out position, working alongside the Contract Milker and 2IC. The farm milks approximately 500 MA cows through a 50-bail rotary with an in-shed feeding system and operates as a System 3 farm. It is a rolling to steep farm so ideally you will have had experience driving bikes and tractors on this kind of terrain.
