This is a genuine second-in-charge position within a tight three-person team (Contract milker, 2IC, Shed Manager). You will be responsible for helping lead the farm and confidently managing operations on the contract milkers days off. We run a performance-focused system and take pride in maintaining high standards across animal health, pasture management, shed hygiene, and overall farm presentation. Our farming operation is seeking an Assistant Manager to work on our dairy farm. We are based at Eureka, Hamilton and have 570 kiwi cross cows on 163 ha. We milk through a 50 aside herringbone shed, run a system 2/3, and are predominately grass based. Our farm is in a desired location only 15mins from Hamilton, 15mins from Morrinsville and 20mins to Cambridge. Our ideal candidate will be a great communicator, be able to work within a team environment, have good milking and tractor skills, good stockmanship and treat animals with respect. We like to operate our farm so that all staff can do all jobs and we don't need to check over work to ensure it has been done correctly. The successful candidate will have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills (Agriculture) Level 2 and completed at least 1 year experience in a New Zealand Dairy Farm. Key responsibilities include: • Tractor Work - feeding out, urea application • Setting up fences and breaks • Getting cows and calves, milking cows • Assisting with animal health and identifying cows on heat. • Assisting with calf rearing, managing the herd and assisting with pasture management.
