FLEXIBLE Part time/Casual work during Calvings

*PART-TIME FARM WORKER REQUIRED - JULY TO SEPT & MARCH TO MAY* Drive-in position (15 minutes from New Plymouth - farm is by the Airport) 290 cows Split calving - 200 in autumn & 100 in spring System 4 - maize & silage grown on farm, PK bought in Needing someone from July - Sept & March - May (about 6 months of calving but there can potentially be more work throughout the season) 4-5 hours in the morning, wrapping up by 9/9:30am (this is flexible for the right person) Pay is negotiable $25 - $35+ per hour depending on farming experience and distance travelled Opportunity for more hours/relief milking work for the right person! You'll be working alongside me and occasionally my partner will tag along. Both of us are team-players, passionate about the industry and enjoy having a laugh. The ideal person would be someone who's had some experience in the industry, who has moved to town and is looking for a bit of casual farm work without the pressure of decision making. However willing to give the right person a crack as well. Would be ideal if you are competent on farm i.e. around stock, bikes, tractors etc. but training can be provided. **Job Description** Autumn Calving Farm - We need an extra hand over our busy Calving-Mating season. Starting Early March and finishing late August (7 months). We have 480 Friesian cows to calve from 10 March- 20 May over 12 weeks. We are setting up a new automated calf feeding shed - which is still work in progress. The position will involve: - The whole calf rearing process from assisting collecting calves from paddock. - Feeding Colostrum for first 4-5 days. - Transitioning calves onto the autofeeders. - Mixing Milk powder (which requires lifting 25 kg bags). - Cleaning and washing down calf feeding area daily. - Feeding Meal and Straw to calves (25 kg meal bags). - Feeding calves in paddock, shifting calves to other paddocks. - Assist with Milking when other staff have days off. - Assist with post Milking Clean up. - Assist with other general farm duties when other staff have days off. You will need to have experience working on a dairy farm and completed a calving season (our Peak busy period will be 15 March -15 June). You will milking in 50 Bale rotary on your own when rostered on, so you must be confident to operate shed and detect mastitis. Hours Start 5:15 am finish 5:45 pm. Part Time Milking to Pay Rent
