Dairy Farm Assistant

**Calf Rearer – Methven, Canterbury** We are seeking two motivated calf rearers to join our team for the 2026 calving season, based less than 10 minutes from Methven and 20 minutes from Ashburton. We are passionate about looking after our animals, our farm & our staff. We are seeking a Farm Assistant to join our team for 1 June 2026. Our ideal applicant will have at least 6 months dairy farming experience, have a general knowledge of animal health & husbandry, and all general on farm skills such as milking, riding farm bikes, tractor driving, fencing, effluent, etc. Great communication & a 'can do' attitude are a must. The remuneration package offered for the successful applicant will be $25-33/hr for a minimum 30 and maximum 50 hours per week. This is paid fortnightly. The roster is 11 on / 3 off. Duties & Responsibilities include: Milking, Animal Health, Plant & Machinery Maintenance, Tractor Work, Irrigation/Effluent, Stock Work, Calf Rearing, Record Keeping, Farm Maintenance, Health & Safety. About the farm, We will be milking 350-400 cows this season, through a 30ASHB with automatic cup removers. Brand new undercover feedpad and smart shelter that all of our cows calve in. Location: Ruawai Flats We are looking for an Assistant Calf Rearer / Farm Assistant. Someone to help rear calves during the spring. Assist with the day to day running of the farm e.g milking, break fences, basic tractor work, shifting irrigator. Working alongside contract milkers and farm assistant, about 25-40 hours per fortnight. Experience not necessary. You must be willing to learn and reliability is a must.
