We have an exciting opportunity for a Dairy Farm Assistant with 12+ months of dairy farm experience to join a well-run 900-cow farm in Woodlands, just 20 minutes from Invercargill, milking through a modern 50-Bail Rotary shed. You'll enjoy a role packed with variety—plenty to keep you busy, learning, and growing, including: - Milking twice daily - Shifting cows and feeding out - Fencing and weed control - Calving and calf rearing - Shed cleaning, hygiene and setup - Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Treating animals as required - Setting fences - Other general hands-on farm duties Weekly hours are a minimum of 40, average of 45 and a maximum of 60, and because farming is unpredictable, if you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnight, you’ll be paid at the agreed overtime rate for every additional hour worked. The schedule can vary, but typically you’ll be working 4:30am–5:30pm with meal and rest breaks. Roster: 6 days on, 2 days off—a great balance for farm life. Salary is up to $75,000 per annum, subject to experience. Candidates must have solid dairy farming experience and be able to provide strong, relevant references. To be considered you must: - Provide a current, correct and complete CV or verifiable proof of work (this is proof of work and professionalism and the employer will not consider you without this) - Be a solid worker and with good character (where possible, we will do a criminal check) - Be physically fit and capable of farm duties - Pass a pre-employment drug test - Hold at least a restricted driver licence Summary: If you're someone who doesn’t shy away from early starts, takes pride in hard, honest work, cares deeply about animal welfare, and communicates well with others—you’ll not only want this job… you’ll thrive in it.
