We are looking for a farm assistant to join our team, with at least 1 years of experience on dairy farm. Apart from the knowledge build up previously if you show you are passionate about the industry, have the right attitude and willingness to keep learning and work hard then you will be considered for the role. We contract milk 1350 cows in Bankside with Halter collar system. We milk through two sheds of 44 aside herringbone. In this moment one of the sheds has Protrack and in shed feed system. The successful applicant will be part of a six person team with support from the Contract Milkers. Your duties would eventually include all aspects of dairy farming including the following (but not limited to): Maintain fencing and water supply in a good working condition. Milking (Milking time 2.5-3 hours) - Break fencing if needed - General farm maintenance - Animal health (calf drenching, identify and treat mastitis, others) - Assist with a weed control programme for the farm. - Assisting with young stock (when required). Position two is Calf Rearer. This position will work alongside our two current calf rearers to support the growth and development of our calves during the calf rearing season. We are seeking an experienced farm manager to join our team. The farm is local to Gore. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. We are looking for someone that is motivated, reliable, good communication and can be a good role model to the team. Previous farm management experience a must. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. We're looking to add another reliable and trustworthy Farm Assistant to our team, pretty much immediately. Our junior staff member has moved on to his next step, which has created a vacancy in our team. We are milking 600 cows twice-a-day (TAD) starting in mid-August, and will reduce this to once-a-day (OAD) in summer sometime. The dairy shed is spacious and modern; well-equipped with ACRs, in-shed feeding, SmartWash, and a hydraulic backing gate. The other gear on the farm is well maintained and fit-for-purpose. A private bedroom in 1 of our 2 on-farm accommodations will be made available to the successful applicant. This is to be a service tenancy made available as shared accommodation for the Farm Assistant to occupy with other Farm Assistants. Both homes are warm & dry & modern. They also have stunning views of Mount Ruapehu. Each home is supplied with basic furnishings. NO PETS ALLOWED, please do not ask. Calf Rearer Required, Full Responsibility Role We are looking for an experienced and reliable calf rearer to take full responsibility for our calf-rearing season. This is a drive-in, drive-out role. We are located in Ohaupo, within approximately 15 minutes of both Cambridge and Te Awamutu. The role will run from 1 July through to 1 October, on an 11 days on, 3 days off roster. We are calving 285 cows, with approximately 140 calves reared through to weaning. This role involves taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the calf shed. Main duties include calf feeding, general calf shed management, monitoring calf health, keeping calves clean, dry and well-bedded, helping collect calves, navel spraying, managing calf groups, cleaning feeding equipment, maintaining calf records, and communicating clearly with the farm owners. Applicants must be confident operating a side-by-side and comfortable helping collect calves as required.
