We are seeking a reliable Dairy Farm Assistant for our Dannevirke-based dairy farm, starting March 2026, milking approximately 300 cows through a 24-aside herringbone shed with ACR's. You will be working alongside a contract milker and the farm owner, assisting with day-to-day farm operations. Independent on-farm accommodation provided. The Farm Manager is responsible for meeting farm goals in terms of production, animal performance, feed, environment, machinery. We are seeking a keen and motivated person to manage our 132ha, 360 cow dairy farm. The farm is mainly flat with some rolling hills. It is a low system, low stress operation. The successful applicant would be responsible not just for the milk harvesting, pasture management, weed control but also the day to day management of a staff member. The 3 bedroom home on the farm is 5 minutes from the local township with a primary school and childcare centre. It is 20 minutes from Dannevirke. We milk all year and have acquired a feed pad to do this. We will winter cows on farm and we have an adjacent runoff where we run all our young stock. We have a 320ha platform that is irrigated via spray irrigation (Pivots, Fixed Grid, Kline). Cows are milked through a 60 bail Waikato Rotary cowshed. Its equipped with cup removers, Protrack and inshed feeding. We have used Allflex collars on our cows for 9 seasons and are looking into other options of wearables currently. The successful applicant would run the day to day management of the dairy platform. Cows, Grass, feeding, people and harvesting the milk in an efficient way. We would offer support through the farm owner and current manager working alongside the applicant to find their feet and to learn our system. This position would involve running the day to day system on the dairy farm, grass, cows, staff. 900 cows calved in spring and 200 in autumn. Milk all year round. Strengths needed for this role is a good understanding of pasture management, animal husbandry, staff management, irrigation and an ability to problem solve. Dairy Farm Manager for 360Cow dairy operation located Pahiatua NZ. The farm is 126 hectares effective with an adjacent 52 hectare runoff. The role has responsibility over both blocks. 360 cows are peak milked with R1 and R2 year hfrs grazed on the adjacent runoff. 2026 Season 170,000kgMS target 2025 Season 161,500kgMS Target 2027 is 170,000kgMS The role will require the following: - Great Stockmanship and the ability to feed cows well. These cows are doing close to 500kgMS/cow - The desire to grow out young stock well. Young stock are grazed at the runoff and the responsibility of the Farm Manager. - Good understanding of Animal Health and experience with diagnosis and treatment of common Cow challenges. - A sound understanding of cowshed management including plant hygiene/ food safety standards. - Strong pasture management skills - willing to plate farm fortnightly. - Ability to lead and communicate well with staff - 2Ic and relief staff - A willingness to communicate actively with the farm owners and a willingness to be coached by farm owners. - Sound understanding of technology - use of Minda/Fonterra Dairy Diary/Resolution. - Willingness to capture data to support good decision making.
