At Ceed, we’re a hands-on, full-service orchard management team that cares about doing great work, looking after our people and delivering consistent results for our growers across the Hawkes Bay region. We work hard, keep things practical and back each other to get the job done – together!
We’re looking for a motivated Orchard Hand to join our Crownthorpe team on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the role
Reporting to the Orchard Manager, you’ll support the day-to-day care, development and performance of our apple orchards. The work is varied and seasonal, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge and become confident across a wide range of orchard activities.
Your work will include:
• Operating and maintaining Irrigation and fertigation systems
• Operating tractors and other orchard machinery
• Completing basic equipment maintenance
• Quality control, supervision and general orchard work
• Seasonal tree training, pruning and harvest operations
• Spraying and pest and disease control
• Helping across the wider operation when needed
• Working safely and looking after our shared equipment and resources
Training and support will be available, but we’re also looking for someone who is willing to take responsibility, ask questions and get stuck in.
About you
You don’t need to know everything on day one. Bring the orchard experience that you do have and build on it. What matters most is your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn.
You’ll be someone who:
• Shows up, puts in the mahi and takes pride in doing a good job
• Works well as part of a team and can also get on with the job independently
• Has a practical, can-do attitude and is willing to step up when needed
• Communicates well, follows instructions and pays attention to the little things
• Is adaptable and willing to work flexible or longer hours during busy periods, especially harvest
• Holds a full NZ Drivers Licence
• Ideally holds a First Aid and GrowSafe certificate or be willing to obtain these with our help.
Why join Ceed?
We’re proud of the work we do and the team we’ve built. Our values are reflected in how we work every day: we deliver, we learn, we care, we speak honestly and respectfully, and we make time to enjoy working together. As part of Ceed, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from an experienced team, be supported with gaining qualifications and build practical orchard and machinery skills on the job.
Applicants must be willing to complete our standard pre-employment checks, including health check, drug and alcohol screening and Ministry of Justice checks.
Ready to get stuck in?
Apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself and why this role interests you.
Applications close Friday 30 October at 5.00 pm, although we may appoint earlier if we find the right person.
