50/50 Sharemilker

Anonymous Farm / Business50/50 SharemilkerMeremere, Waikato

My clients are seeking their first 50/50 share milker for their circa 220ha property (inc 70ha lease) well located mid-way between Auckland and Hamilton at Island Block near Meremere. The property consists of mainly rolling clay soils (90%) with an area of wetter peat flats and is split by a road accessed via 2 underpasses. There is a good 32ASHB cowshed which is centrally located along with a recently upgraded lined effluent pond. Production has been variable in recent years due to a reduction in area and changes in staffing and cropping/feeding regimes but has peaked at 160,000kgMS from approx 260ha eff. This season it is on track to do around 130,000kgMS (last season 140,000kgMS). The farm has been calving around 500 cows on a System 2 with minimal bought in feed to keep things simple. Some cropping has been trialed with maize, triticale and chicory. The system has primarily been TAD milking until mid Sept when the young herd goes onto OAD, the older TAD herd goes onto OAD from Christmas on, therefore opportunities exist to increase production from tweaks to this. There are 3 homes available for the share milker; 2 x 3 bedroom and 1 x 4 bedroom, all have had some form of redecorating in recent years and they are well positioned with nice views over the farm. The farm owners ideally seek a young, keen sharemilker with excellent communication and pasture management skills in order to get the most out of the property. There could be the opportunity to purchase the farm/part of in the medium term for those with farm ownership aspirations. The owners’ Jsy/KX herd is available for sale and due to not being pushed hard has consistently achieved excellent mating results, 3% MT last season and 6-7% 5yr avg with no intervention used. Sexed semen is used for 3 weeks as well as Speckle Park bulls (out by Xmas) with calves including replacements and a large number of beefies all going to the farm owners’ runoff block. Going forward with new Sharemilkers the farm owners would like to reduce stocking rates down to around 450 cows. They would however be happy to look at good Sharemilkers who may not have the financial ability to go to 450 straight away and would look at options down to 350 cows as a minimum and how the system may change to accommodate this e.g. replacements grazed on farm. There is also the possibility for the right operator to potentially Contract Manage the farm for the first year however the preference is to find a 50/50 Sharemilker. ***ONLY APPLICATIONS THAT HAVE A CV AND REFERENCES AVAILABLE WILL BE FOLLOWED UP*** Applicants need to have the right to work in NZ and random or pre-employment drug checks may be used. Due to unforeseen circumstances relisting. Drive Production. Elevate Performance. Lift Profitability. Our client is seeking an energetic, forward-thinking 50/50 sharemilker ready to step into a well-resourced, high-performing dairying business and take it to the next level. This is an opportunity to build your own success on a property with scale, strong historical performance and the foundations for future growth. With a long-term production average of 145,000 kgMS and peak seasons of 160,000 kgMS from Holstein Friesian cows, this farm has proven output. The herd has now been sold — leaving the gate wide open for the next generation to come in, build their own herd, and shape the direction of the farming system. A recent Farmax review indicates a minimum production of 120,000 kgMS under a crossbred herd, but the modelling also makes one thing clear: there’s significantly more potential to unlock here. Why This Opportunity Stands Out A well-set-up property designed for efficiency, animal welfare and consistent results: - 360 crossbred/Friesian cows with a preferred planned start of calving around 15 July - 148 effective hectares — 100 ha flat, 48 ha easy rolling, including 85 ha effluent area - 36-aside herringbone shed with strong infrastructure to support scale - Feed pad, two wintering pads, and extensive implement shedding - 15 ha of maize on-platform, plus homegrown baleage and bulk silage - PKE, DDG and Soy meal imported to drive performance and hit targets - Labour requirement: 2.5–3 FTE - Healthy Homes-certified, 3-bedroom home, plus double garage - Only 25 km to central Whangārei Build Your System. Grow Your Business. The surrounding support network amplifies the opportunity: - Neighbouring calf grazing eliminates cartage costs and keeps your replacements close - Lease block directly across the road ideal for rearing heifers under your own management, perfect set-up for AI programmes, giving you more control and faster genetic progress - Strong infrastructure allows for future-focused, sustainable system design If you thrive on improving performance, love your cows, and want to be part of a supportive, collaborative partnership, this is a position where your skills and ambition will be valued and rewarded. Shape the System, Drive the Direction One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is the farm owner’s willingness to evolve the system. Get Ahead on a Proven Winter Milk Farm 240 cows I 24 ASHB I effective 95 ha If you’re looking for a genuine chance to get ahead, this winter milk sharemilking opportunity on Falls Road, North Waikato, is one worth a close look. Milking 240 cows across 95 effective hectares, the farm consistently produces 100,000–110,000 kgMS and operates as a System 4 with a 15 April calving date. It’s a well-proven winter milk platform with the infrastructure and feeding system to perform. The system is well supported, with around 300 bales of silage made on-farm, approximately 220 tonnes of imported maize, and meal fed through the shed. A covered feedpad provides flexibility for feeding and short-term stand-off in wetter conditions, helping protect pasture and maintain cow condition. The milking shed is a 24-aside herringbone, which is fully compliant and well maintained. Young stock grazing is available on land managed by the farm owner, giving you control and consistency of your youngstock. The owners are new to this farm but are experienced operators with other farming interests in the district. Importantly, they are strong believers in sharemilking as a proven pathway forward, having done it themselves. They are practical, down-to-earth farmers who understand what it takes on the ground and are keen to build a strong, trusting partnership with the right person. This opportunity will suit someone who is passionate about dairy farming, hungry to progress, and knows that good communication and a professional approach matter. You’ll take pride in running a tidy, efficient operation, lifting animal performance and managing feed well, while also being commercially switched on. A three-year contract is on offer, providing stability and confidence for the right sharemilker, with a start date of 1 April. The cows currently on the farm are required to be purchased by the incoming sharemilker and will be independently valued at the start of the contract. They are also be required to be sold back at the end of the contract, which provides clarity and certainty on entry and exit. Where bank funding is required, confirmation will need to be provided early in the process. The farm is fully compliant, backed by good infrastructure and systems that are well set up and well maintained. The expectation is simple — keep standards high and run the place like it’s your own. A three-bedroom home is provided and will be fully renovated prior to takeover, so add in a great North Waikato location, good schooling options, and easy access to key service towns, and this is an opportunity that stacks up both on-farm and off-farm. If you’re ready to take the next step with supportive owners and a proven winter milk system, this one is well worth your attention.

50:50 Herd Owning Sharemilker

AgFirst Consultants Central Limited50/50 SharemilkerTaumarunui, Waikato

An opportunity presents itself for a progressive Sharemilker to take on the operation of one of the Te Uranga B2 Incorporations dairy farms - known as Paatara. Currently milking 350 cows on 133 effective hectares. The existing sharemilker has been with the Incorporation for 22 years (19 years on this farm) and a strong relationship exists between the parties. However, the Sharemilker has now taken the opportunity to hang up the boots and focus on their other ventures. The Incorporation also operates an adjoining 580 cow farm with a 50:50 sharemilker who has been with the Incorporation for 17 years so if you are looking for job security and lowering the risk of current high cow prices, this is a fantastic opportunity. Farm Layout and Contour Largely flat to rolling contour split over two levels – approximately 1/3 of the farm on a higher level (easy walks). All steeper areas retired. Good race network with pumice on site and access to a metal quarry on farm. Soils and Fertiliser Predominantly pumice soils make for easy wintering, Soil fertility – high in general and consistent inputs every year, Nitrogen – 100 - 130kg N / ha / annum (opportunity to lift through strategic inputs.) There remains some opportunity for strategic increase of inputs to further improve the farm system, if economic. The Incorporation remains flexible around these options and the focus is on maximising the performance of the farm – regardless of the system. However, the opportunity is there to discuss this system with the exiting Sharemilker to understand how the farm system has been put together to achieve the current performance and the incoming Sharemilker to assess how they would operate the farm. This operation was a small family run 112ha Dairy farm (106ha effective) with an associated run off, it was run as a self -contained unit utilising the 120ha run -off. We have had 50/50 Share milkers for the last 3 seasons and they have purchased their first farm so are finishing this season. They have achieved 596ms per cow milking half Jersey and half Friesian cows. The property has achieved production levels of 184000ms - 198000ms with an aim of 185000ms from 330 cows, running 3.1 cows per ha. We are running a pasture based system, utilising in-shed feeding to complement the pasture grown and maximise per cow production. This position offers an amazing opportunity for the incoming share milker, one where they can fully utilise the dairy platform as a milking platform and with the owner running the run-off as a grazier. Means all the winter needs and young stock requirements are right next door. Wintering is just a small walk from the dairy farm and the owner enjoys wintering the cows to allow the share milker the winter off! The incoming share milker needs to bring their own cows and prove they have strong pasture management, an interest to feed concentrates via in-shed feeding, a clear understanding of effluent management, and of health and safety. Have great communication skills. The property is aesthetically set out and in great condition.
