Due to current Manager moving on, a position is available for a 50/50 Sharemilker on our Autumn calving farm. The farm is flat to easy rolling and has a peak herd size of 290-300 cows. The calving is set to start on 20/3/2026. The farm size is 122 hectares with a 25 aside shed. Accommodation is available in a 3 bed house. The average hours per week are 60, with the roster by negotiation. Remuneration is paid by a percentage of the milk cheque, with an expected remuneration of 500,000.

My clients are seeking their first 50/50 share milker for their circa 220ha property (inc 70ha lease) well located mid-way between Auckland and Hamilton at Island Block near Meremere. The property consists of mainly rolling clay soils (90%) with an area of wetter peat flats and is split by a road accessed via 2 underpasses. There is a good 32ASHB cowshed which is centrally located along with a recently upgraded lined effluent pond. Production has been variable in recent years due to a reduction in area and changes in staffing and cropping/feeding regimes but has peaked at 160,000kgMS from approx 260ha eff. This season it is on track to do around 130,000kgMS (last season 140,000kgMS). The farm has been calving around 500 cows on a System 2 with minimal bought in feed to keep things simple. Some cropping has been trialed with maize, triticale and chicory. The system has primarily been TAD milking until mid Sept when the young herd goes onto OAD, the older TAD herd goes onto OAD from Christmas on, therefore opportunities exist to increase production from tweaks to this. There are 3 homes available for the share milker; 2 x 3 bedroom and 1 x 4 bedroom, all have had some form of redecorating in recent years and they are well positioned with nice views over the farm. The farm owners ideally seek a young, keen sharemilker with excellent communication and pasture management skills in order to get the most out of the property. There could be the opportunity to purchase the farm/part of in the medium term for those with farm ownership aspirations. The owners’ Jsy/KX herd is available for sale and due to not being pushed hard has consistently achieved excellent mating results, 3% MT last season and 6-7% 5yr avg with no intervention used. Sexed semen is used for 3 weeks as well as Speckle Park bulls (out by Xmas) with calves including replacements and a large number of beefies all going to the farm owners’ runoff block. Going forward with new Sharemilkers the farm owners would like to reduce stocking rates down to around 450 cows. An excellent opportunity has become available on a top producing dairy farm in Southland. This operation was a small family run 112ha Dairy farm (106ha effective) with an associated run off, it was run as a self -contained unit utilising the 120ha run -off. We have had 50/50 Share milkers for the last 3 seasons and they have purchased their first farm so are finishing this season. They have achieved 596ms per cow milking half Jersey and half Friesian cows. The property has achieved production levels of 184000ms - 198000ms with an aim of 185000ms from 330 cows, running 3.1 cows per ha. We are running a pasture based system, utilising in-shed feeding to complement the pasture grown and maximise per cow production. This position offers an amazing opportunity for the incoming share milker, one where they can fully utilise the dairy platform as a milking platform and with the owner running the run-off as a grazier. Means all the winter needs and young stock requirements are right next door. Wintering is just a small walk from the dairy farm and the owner enjoys wintering the cows to allow the share milker the winter off! The incoming share milker needs to bring their own cows and prove they have strong pasture management, an interest to feed concentrates via in-shed feeding, a clear understanding of effluent management, and of health and safety. Our clients are seeking an experienced and motivated 50/50 Sharemilker to commence at the start of the 2026–27 season. **The Farm** - **Location:** Inglewood - **Milking Platform:** 111 ha - **Currently Milking:** Predominantly Jersey - **Current Herd:** Approximately 250 cows, calving from 28 July - **50/50 Position:** 290-300 Cows - **Average Historic Production:** 100,000 – 115,000 kgMS Milking is through a 22-aside herringbone shed. The farm is well set up with two Herd Homes (160 Jersey capacity each), cows are housed from dry off and are back on pasture once calved. **Feed & Farm System** - 250 tonnes maize - 200 tonnes PK - 2 unit loads of barley straw - 270–300 bales of silage made on-farm All above are fed in Herd homes. 7 ha of turnips as part of the regrassing programme. **The Role** This position would suit a capable and driven sharemilker ready to operate a well-established, efficient dairy unit with supportive farm owners.
